This speaker is ideal for high quality discreet installations, it can be hung on the wall (Same depth as most plasmas) or can be rebated into the wall, by removal of bricks, or better still a false wall (similar to dry lining) can be constructed to hide the shallow rear chamber , and all associated cables running to speakers and TV panels.

The AVC1 Flat Panel is a discreet 5.5 litre infinite baffle speaker using a superb quality IPL 5" shielded bass unit specifically designed with a sturdy polymer chassis and light doped paper cone to give a very linear response and roll off, and a clean, detailed, but smooth sound. The advantage of the polymer chassis with its integrated gasket is that virtually no vibration is transferred back to the cabinet. The tweeter is the IPL N25 textile dome compact unit with neodymium magnet and an exceptionally smooth response giving a clean and detailed sound.. This speaker has been designed to complement very high quality AV systems and is attractive and flat enough (only 105mm deep)  to wall mount. PLEASE NOTE. these speakers are not a compromise they sound superb, The Mk2 version has an improved crossover giving a smoother response.

The AVC1 uses a very light bass cone to ensure a delightful, dynamic, detailed, but smooth sound with good speech clarity and sensitivity, and a bass response which extends down to 80htz. The overall balance is: large scale, clean but not bright ensuring that  the speaker does not become tiring to listen to at higher volume levels (as is the case with many AV speakers). There is provision to adjust the treble level to suit your AV systems by changing a resistor in the treble crossover section. The crossover which is third and second order uses  polypropylene capacitors, Steel laminate and super power inductors, and high power resistors. Also incorporated on the back panel in the Plus kit  is profiled acoustic foam which scatters the sound waves eliminating boxy colourations, and 2 x  SB2 Gold terminals are provided for connection. For best results use with an IPL Active subwoofer SW4 or SW5  kit which will allow perfect integration. Please note;-The AVC1 can be used in any shape cabinet between 5 and 7 litres

There are 2 designs the AVC1 standard (vertically mounted) and the AVC1 centre (horizontally mounted) which still ensures the tweeter is above the bass unit (essential for good horizontal dispersion). The shallow box which is extremely strong in 18mm MDF can be veneered with the WOODLEAF iron on veneer as supplied by IPL in ash, mahogany, oak or teak . 2 rolls should do the front panel and sides and edges of 5 speakers. The other panels can be painted a similar colour
